Pressure
Vessel Design Manual
ISBN: 0884156478
D Moss
This updated edition fully illustrates every major aspect of
pressure vessel design. It combines the notes, graphs, tables,
figures, design data and equations engineers typically have
scattered among hundreds of publications. All procedures have
been developed and proven using actual design problems. The
techniques are easily repeatable and can be used in conjunction
with ASME, ASCE, UBC and AIC codes. The book includes: types of
loadings, failures and stress theories, and how they apply to
pressure vessels; procedures for designing typical components
and large openings in cylindrical shells, ring girders, davits,
platforms, bins and elevated tanks; techniques for designing
conical transitions, cone-cylinder intersections, intermediate
heads, flat heads and spherically dished covers; and the designs
of vessel supports subject to wind and seismic loads.

Basic
Ship Theory Volume 1
ISBN: 0750653965
E C Tupper, K J Rawson
Rawson and Tupper's "Basic Ship Theory", first
published in 1968, is an introductory text for naval
architecture students, and a reference for the more experienced
designer. This fifth edition provides a balance between theory
and practice. Volume 1 discusses ship geometry and measurement
in its more basic concepts, also covering safety issues,
structural strength, flotation, trim and stability. Volume 2
expands on the material in Volume 1, covering the dynamics of
behaviour of marine vehicles, hydrodynamics, maneuverability and
sea keeping. It concludes with some case studies of particular
ship types and a discussion of maritime design. Both volumes
focus on the importance of considering the environment in
design.

acoustical concepts and terminology, this not-bi-be-missed,
heavily illustrated guide has it all. *Reviews acoustical
principles and applies the theory to the design of special audio
spaces: the home listening room, the control room, and the
multi-track recording studio. Features an entire chapter devoted
to Acoustical Measurements and Calculations. New coverage sheds
light on the many computer programs currently available at both
the professional and advanced audio level.
A handbook on the application of acoustics to the audio arts. It
covers terminology, theoretical concepts of acoustics, computer
programs, and application of concepts to design of studio
spaces, such as the home listening room, the control room, and
the multi-track recording studio.

Chassis
Engineering/Chassis Design,...
ISBN: 1557880557
Herb Adams
Mainly aimed at the American market, it concentrates on large,
heavy and relatively crude saloons and how to improve them.
These methods are not necessarily valid in the European market.
It does, however, cover most suspension layout basics, the does
and don'ts of space frame chassis design and basic aerodynamics.
All in all a reasonable introduction to performance car
dynamics.

Security
Engineering
ISBN: 0471389226
Ross Anderson
Gigantically comprehensive and carefully researched, Security
Engineering makes it clear just how difficult it is to
protect information systems from corruption, eavesdropping,
unauthorised use and general malice. Better, Ross Anderson
offers a lot of thoughts on how information can be made more
secure (though probably not absolutely secure, at least not
forever) with the help of both technologies and management
strategies. His work makes fascinating reading, and will no
doubt inspire considerable doubt--fear is probably a better
choice of words--in anyone with information to gather, protect,
or make decisions upon.
Be aware: this is absolutely not a book solely about
computers, with yet another explanation of Alice and Bob and how
they exchange public keys in order to exchange messages in
secret. Anderson explores, for example, the ingenuous ways in
which European truck drivers defeat their vehicles'
speed-logging equipment. In another section, he shows how the
end of the Cold War brought on a decline in defences against
radio-frequency monitoring (radio frequencies can be used to
determine, at a distance, what's going on in systems--bank
teller machines, say) and how similar technology can be used to
reverse-engineer the calculations that go on inside smart cards.
In almost 600 pages of riveting detail, Anderson warns us not to
be seduced by the latest defensive technologies, never to
underestimate human ingenuity and always use common sense in
defending valuables. It is a terrific read for security
professionals and general readers alike.
